Bogota, Colombia

Well I’m in Bogota now, well just outside of it. One of my friends took me outside the city to stay a night at his parents house. We are actually on our second night here. There was a skirmish on the road with the Colombian troops and they blocked the road for the rest of the day yesterday.
The hour drive here was beautiful, I have never seen such dense jungle before. I have seen very exotic looking birds unlike any I would ever see in the states. I am curious as to how diverse the flora and fauna can be on a different continent. I desperately wanted to hike into the hills but the seeing the Colombian military on the sides of the road reminded me that wondering out alone would not be such a good idea. The F.A.R.C. would love to get their hands on another american hostage. I really didn’t know about all the hostages the FARC held until I got here and news broke of a video they released of the hostages.
Other than that the trip has been great. I’ll let some pictures tell it.
