Haunted House Infographic
October 26, 2011I have always loved Haunted Houses. They are so creative, mischievous, and fun for people of all ages. In thinking about the elements that make them such a hit I decided to make this graph to help visualize the all inclusive greatness of one of my favorite American traditions.

Life with a name that begins with two A’s
March 6, 2010In elementary school I used to think it was cool to have a name that begins with two A’s. Back then it was more common for a teacher to organize things based on your first name as opposed to your last. That meant that often I was first for a lot of things, games, checking roll, or sometimes we would be asked to get in alphabetical order line to go somewhere.
After grade school those perks wore off, but with the emergence of cell phones an interesting side effect began taking place. I was on the receiving end of everyone’s accidental cell phone calls. Because my name is first in everyone’s phone directory I get called if someone accidentally hits one or two buttons on their phone. It often tends to happen when people are in transition. When I answer the phone I may hear a car door open, footsteps, knock on a door, maybe a little snip of conversation. I will usually, “Hello, Hello!” listen for a minute, and hang up. (more…)

July 3, 2009This weekend I was visiting with my brothers Dusty and Ben in Jacksonville Alabama. That first night we decided we were going to make a campfire in his backyard. We were a little short on firewood so Ben and I drove through his neighborhood towards the woods in search of any firewood. Just as the sun was beginning to set we came to a lonely dead end that only had one house along side its turnaround. Looking into the yard I saw a lady that looked like she was working in the large garden that covered her front yard. We couldn’t see her that well as I was pulling my car around the dead end, but I decided to stop because it almost looked like she was laying down. We asked her if she was ok and she yelled, “No, Help me!” We quickly got out to help. Her legs had become entangled in some plastic that she was trying to cover her garden with. The elderly lady had fallen and hurt her shoulder, and had been laying there unable to get up for an hour. We helped her to her feet, brushed her off and helped her inside.
It is really amazing we happened to be driving down that dead end street, we might have been the only car all day that passed that house. If we didn’t drive by she shirly would have spent the night in her garden. Posted in Random |
Couch Surfing culture
May 1, 2009I decided to try out Couch Surfing during my trip to California. Couch Surfing is a social network used for people to stay with others when they are traveling. I didn’t just want to use it to save money from hotels, but also to meet some locals and possibly do some professional networking if I could surf with some people involved in web/graphic design.
