November 9, 2010My first party at my house was a great success! Lots of people came, built a fire, burnt a huge hole in the backyard, cops came, fun and games for all! I was an Indian and my brother just happened to be a cowboy. Here is the invitation I made.

The LogoLoft is Bankrupt
October 17, 2010One year ago I began working as a web designer at the Logo Loft here in Montgomery AL. The company is kind of a mess and a bit disorganized but it has been great for me. I feel like I have been thrown head first into the world of web design and I have learned a lot.
At 5:00 today our boss called the entire staff of 25 into a meeting. He said he is filing for bankruptcy and this will be everyone’s last day.

Bought a house!
June 7, 2010I have never liked the idea of paying rent. I’m a long term thinker so I figured I would go for it. Now is a good time to buy a house and I figured I could get a fixer upper and it would be like a big design project for me and a good excuse to get away from the computer and get my hands dirty.
I was thinking the only way for me to afford a house that was what I wanted was to buy a foreclosed home that was kind of a fixer-upper. The one I decided on was certainly that. Basically every wall needs to be painted and all the carpet needs to be replaced.

Euro Trek 2009
August 2, 2009Just returned from a two week trek across central Europe! My brother Ben and I went to Budapest where my brother Connor is teaching English with his girlfriend Heli. The four of us and another girl named Eva set out to make it to the southern coast and back up to the top again.
This was my first time in Europe and it was quite amazing. We also stayed with Eva’s parents in Hungry and Heli’s parents in Slovakia. They were very graceful and excited to see us. They filled us up on some amazing traditional dishes and Eva’s parents gave us two massive jugs of homemade wine for the trip!
Budapest is a beautiful city, practically carved out of stone. Vienna has massive extravagant palaces that seem to match the very fashionable and trendy lifestyle. Bosnia has huge winding mountains, and in it, Sarajevo though quaint and friendly bears many scars form the Bosnian war of the early 90s. The concrete walls of our hostel was still riddled with bullet holes.
The Adriatic sea on the coast of Croatia has crystal clear water spotted with Islands. On the island of Korcula we found a beautiful condo on a mountainside that overlooked the ocean. It even had turtles in the balcony garden!

Refreshing arrival back in the states.
May 6, 2009Last week I arrived in San Francisco for my little tour of the West Coast. After a year in Korea it did seem a little awkward being back in the states but it didn’t last long.
When I first stepped onto American soil, not surprisingly the first contact I had with anyone was with a homeless person. He was helpful in assisting me with some directions, so I decided to give him some some change. I remembered that all I had was a few hundreds and some Korean currency, so I pulled out a few Korean bills and told him that was all I had. He told me he lived in Korea and began naming off lots of places he visited there. I gave him a few thousand wan.
The first thing I noticed in San Francisco was the cultural diversity. It was quite a refreshing change from Korea where 99% of the people there are Korean. Almost everyone in San Francisco has some kind of foreign blood in them. Every combination of asian, hispanic, indian, whatever were there. It’s like race almost means nothing because everyone is some kind of different mix.
The food in California was also a refreshing change. Korean food is good, very spicy with lots of fresh vegetables, however it does become a little monotonous. Now it’s great to be able to easily get food from all over the world. I gained a few pounds as soon as I returned to the states. People say that America is a melting pot, it certainly is.
