Survivor Man in Yellowstone

Day 1 in Yellowstone. I was super excited to get here. During the 3 days of driving all I could think about was charging into the wilderness climbing mountains forging streams and seeing tons of wildlife. I had been stuck in an apartment in the city for a year and I wanted nature now! All of it! I had been watching this survival show called Survivor Man and it had me seriously stoked.  I didn’t just want to walk along the trails like all the rest of the tourist, I wanted to explore, discover and survive! I got there a couple days early, really no one at the park yet. So I decided that I would just park my car near any stream that crosses the road and just follow the stream into the woods for the day. That way I can see territory that has not been too paved over by tourist and I won’t get lost if I just stay with the stream. So I had a map and food and I was ready to spend the entire day following that stream. After about 30 minutes into my hike I noticed some thermal steam coming out of a hill not to far away. I veered off course and headed for it hoping to discover a thermal pool!I had to cross another creek and walk on some pretty sketchy ground to get there. Once I found it I was amazed! It was about the size of a small pool and a gorgeous deep blue color. I couldn’t believe I made such a great discovery. Because I was not on a trail I thought very few people had seen this before. Suddenly I hear “Get back on the trail dumb ass! You are not supposed to be down there.” I felt so stupid. A tourist was insulting Survivor Man from a nearby trail. That was a major buzz kill. I then got in like with the other tourist and hiked some trails.
