A peek into iPhone development

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Today I downloaded the iPhone SDK. The Software Developers Kit includes a variety of programs for developing applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. I haven’t done a lot(or any) software development but Apple’s development tools, like many of their products, seem to be made for simplicity. Many elements you will need for your app can simply be dragged and dropped into place. All you have to do is connect the elements and tell them what to do. Sounds simple but you do need a healthy dose of programming knowledge. I think I’ll give it a chance, the least I can do is copy the steps to build a simple app and modify it enough to call it my own.

DashCode is one the the apps included with the SDK. Dashcode makes web apps, which are based on web development language. That I can work with. In a few hours I managed to make a web app for my website! Based on my RSS feed, it’s basically a blog customized to fit nicely on the iPhone. Your cellphone will be your supercomputer

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

I’m going to play technological prophet for a moment. In light of Apple releasing it’s third version of its iPhone software, I began thinking about the capabilities of smart phones and the possibility they have to overpower your PC as your main machine simply because of the mobility of the phone.

This comparison shows you what I see as the nine most important abilities of the two most popular personal technological devices.

Day 2 in Korea - Success!

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Make sure you read Day 1 Post first!

In the afternoon after finally getting some sleep I knocked on my neighbors door. My boss said that my co-worker lives there and he could help me out with what I needed. He wasn’t home. Looks like I’m on my own.

First off I needed food. My dollars wouldn’t work, but my Visa might! I walked a few blocks and found a bakery that sold some sandwiches. I gave the shop owner my credit card and my hungriest look. Success! I decided to push my luck. “Do you know where the subway is?” He didn’t speak english.

As I walked back into my neighborhood I stopped by a large building to see if could pick-up wireless internet on my iPhone. I wanted to check my email. The previous night I sent an email to a girl named Jyung Hee that I saw on MySpace. In the email I told her I just got to Korea and I know no one. Basically I told her I’m a lost little boy who needs a hot Korean girl to show him around. It worked, she said she would like to meet up with me that evening. (more…)
